My husband and I have travelled the Baja penninsula for the past 30 years. Jim traversed the entire penninsula on motorcycle and in a dune buggy before Hwy 1 was paved. Northern Baja and the tip have become big cities, but central Baja is still sparsely populated and a nature lover's delight. For the last 15 years we have spent most of our time camping in the central part of the penninsula. We didn't like the bright lights and wild nights in Cabo or the crime and grime of Rosarito. We were looking for a safe peaceful area where you could view the stars at night and with access to the all natural wonders the Sea of Cortez offers. At the end of each trip we came to Punta Chivato...it was cooler, a nice breeze and no bugs in the summer and the crystal clear warm water was amazing. We kept coming back as did all our neighbors.
